| Tuesday Night Prayer Group |
Since 1974 parishioners have been gathering once a week for shared prayer. Praising God is the first order of business at these Prayer Meetings. Intercessory prayer, "witnessing", and Scripture reading are also featured.
New participants are more than welcome! Reliance on the Holy Spirit is the hallmark of the Charismatic Renewal. The basic premise of Life in the Spirit is this: if we confess that Jesus is Lord and Savior, if we give him "permission" to control our lives, and if we ask him to send his Spirit to transform us, he will! With our rebirth in the Holy Spirit we don't just know about Jesus, we know him as a personal friend. Scripture comes alive, prayer becomes second nature, and we see the world in a new light. A sense of peace remains even in times of trouble or dryness. There is a fuller understanding that Jesus has paid the price for our sins; he has won our salvation for us. We don't earn it by our merits, we just accept it!
Many people who have never heard of the Charismatic Renewal have made a fundamental surrender to Jesus. Others learn how to take that scary but vital step by attending the Life in the Spirit Seminar offered by the Prayer Group. The Prayer Meeting is the place where those who have discovered (and those who are seeking) new life in Christ come together to celebrate his graciousness, to beg his help and forgiveness, and to support one another on the pilgrimage.
The Prayer Meeting is held on Tuesdays at 7:30pm in the lower church, and lasts one hour.
